At Horse-Soldier Equine, Inc, our mission is to provide shelter and support to retired military horses. We believe that these horses deserve a safe and comfortable place to call home, and we work tirelessly to make that a reality. This is Roosevelt a, a retired 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) caisson horse. During his career he served as wheel horse on the caisson and helped preserve the honor and dignity for over 2000 military funerals from 2000 to 2023. He is now fully retired with us at Horse-Soldier Equine.
Meet Clinch, a retired 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) saddle horse. His mission was to help teach Soldiers to ride in the military style and ultimately be awarded the coveted Military Horseman Badge. He now calls Horse-Soldier Equine his home. Our promise is that these horses are fully retired and will never be ridden again.
Horse-Soldier Equine is located on the historic 150 year-old JF Parker Ranch in the Ghost Town of Old Noxville located in Kimble County in the Texas Hill Country. Gunfighters such as John W. Hardin, Johnny Ringo, and Creed Taylor called this settlement on the Great Western Trail and the Old Military Road their home. People in the area bred horses for the US Army and the polo and racehorse national market. A hotbed of Indian raids required a persistent US Army presence with nearby Camp Verde, Fort Inge, Fort Terrett, Fort McKavett, Fort Martin Scott and Fort Mason.
Our latest arrivals are from the 3rd Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) Provisional Horse Detachment. The horses are fully retired and are not ridden. They undergo medical treatment for their service connected injuries and are allowed to free graze the ranch and enjoy the ample natural spring water year-round. In the photo are from left Reagan, John Henry, Clinch and Pete. Pete is a US Cavalry Association horse. Grant is now with us from The Massachusetts National Lancers. He was a wheel horse for President Reagan's funeral procession.
These gentle giants will steal your heart!
